Tight, tight jeans – that’s April 77. With early punk and with the bands Ramones and Joy Division as an inspiration April 77 from Paris was born in 2002. Ever since the beginning, there was clarity from this cult brand – to tell the story of rock ‘n’ roll with a narrow silhouette. The cuts, details and model names salute all the genres, starting from the 50′s. The fashion label is now a record label too. The design Pen at April 77 is held by Frenchman Brice Partouche in and the brands name is from the designer’s birth year and month.

Partouche began selling narrow jeans sold in underground circles in Paris, but now April 77′s clothes and tight men’s jeans are found in some of the world’s hottest shops. Although April77 is incredibly strongly influenced by the rock ‘n’ roll scene, do not expect to find stereotypes from Guns N Roses and Megadeath – rather tight jeans and slim jackets.

Love of music has also resulted in a collaboration with iconic guitar manufacturer Gibson. A specially designed Gibson Jeans sold with accompanying guitar cases on the Dover Street Market, London. One of the trademarks of the label is a plectrum (Le Pique!) which you will find in the little fifth pocket of the jeans.

Did you know that: John Galliano – known for its extravagant collections – is a devout bearer of the mark. Franz Ferdinand, Lenny Kravitz and Iggy Pop all also like April 77.

The site is laid out so you can either shop by e.g. “men”, “women”, “kids” and then fliter by style, colour or size etc or you can shop from the brand “shop in shops” which means you get only the designer you want. I normally shop from the main categories to start with and have a look at the designers shops later but I suppose it would make more sense to do it the other way around – get inspiration from the branded shops and then compare prices etc from the main area. Each to their own !

I can report on four orders I have made so far (yikes!) – all have been delivered within a few days, the slowest one was around Christmas and took about a week. One thing that is a little bit annoying is that you have to pick up the package at the supermarket rather than have it sent to the house (this is normal in Sweden though). The only thing that I have returned was a suit from Tiger of Sweden, a real shame, it was a real bargain from the boozt outlet but the trousers were too small… The one that got away !

All in all I am giving boozt.com an 8 out of 10 and think they can pick up another point once they add more designers – I would also like to see some Scandinavian home brands like Lexington.

Apparently, nobody pays full price for anything anymore ?!?

One of the cutest designs I have seen on a webshop for a long time, which is very suitable as the children’s clothing from Phister & Philina is among the cutest that one can buy !

For curious and active kids, the creative clothes from Phister & Philina suit very well. It’s a Danish brand offering quirky, cool collections a few times a year. The collections are relatively small, but it’s clear that a lot of time and effort goes into the attention to detail.
